wow, having to pay 5k up front for a job? ouch. Any legit recruiting company makes money off of you /after/ they get you the job, and they make the money on the difference between what they bill the company, and what you get paid.
ie: you're paid $20/hr, they bill $30/hr, they make their money on that $10 dollar difference. Little over simplified, but its pretty much that. |

If the guy had asked me for $5k up front, i would have laughed in his face. 'I'm broke, and looking for a job, you think i have 5 grand? HAHAHA'.
Glad you didn't pay.
What I don't understand is why they ask your partner to come to the second interview? |

WOW!!!
I can't believe people fall for this enough to stay in business?
So....what apparently happens after? Is the scam that they never get you a job? Or do they do what every other company does and also get paid from the company who hires you and you could have just gone through a traditional recruiter for that? |

I can see how people get scammed into this, especially young people. Although 5K is a lot and should raise some flags. I can see them being way more successful with $500.
What I don't get is the African bank account scam, where someone has money in some trust or something that you get a cut of. I can barely understand the email to begin with! |

Leamington man loses $150,000 in Nigerian scam
Oregon Woman Loses $400,000 to Nigerian E-Mail Scam
It's almost as though these people are in competition to see who can make the biggest headline.
Never underestimate human greed and ignorance. |
