Winnipeg has the highest murder rate per capita in Canada...and I think it was ahead by quite a bit.

I remember last year, or two years ago they actually had people going around in van, and randomly attacking and stabbing people...
Not to mention they also have similar problems that Winnipeg has.
Now that's scary when it is random. Majority of our violence is targeted.

From what i've heard, a lot of the violence in Alberta is 'caused by the Natives there. I doubt the gangs there are anything like the gangs here! I doubt it's gun violence. Probably more stabbings, physical fights...or what not.
As for Toronto...i've lived hear for about 8 yrs now, and i've always felt safe. Sure there are random acts of violence, but they are exactly that....RANDOM. And things like that can happen in any city, big or small. Can't go through life always being scared. And a lot of it is gang BS. The scary part is that the gang BS seems to be moving into the downtown core, whereas before it seemed to have been staying in typically already violent/low poverty neighbourhoods. Gunfire on a subway platform at 11am and on the Highway is f'n crazy, and it will def. be 'cause for concern if situations like this keep rising! And the death of Oliver Martin and friend...who were best friends of an ex roommate of mine (the random shooting at Bathurst and Richmond when they were both shot and killed just sitting in their car at a friends condo)...that hit way too close to home for me..i had met Oliver earlier that day with his gf...the only survivor). That case is still unsolved, and my thoughts it that it might have been a gang initiation...now THAT is scary. |

Good to see everyone in this thread isn't paranoid about the random violence that has been happening. Toronto is still a safe city.
All this violence that is happening is just the settling of accounts in the underworld. It sucks that it is so brazen, but I still feel very safe in this city. |

I've talked to a lot of OPP/RCMP officers and heard stories from them and they all say the same thing.
The reason why there is so much violence is because there has been a crack down, and the gangs have to fight each for territory, drugs, weapons, etc.
There are very few events where it is a random target.

There fukn mickey mouse gangs and little punks. The main reason you see going down is because right now Ontario prisons are jammed. The Judges have no other options but to empty the jails and let these turds out early on house arrest. Justice system is flooded with moron right now so they are trying to keep the goats out of jails. We need to put these fuk ups to work for us. Bring back the chain gangs and do something productive. Most of them are punks that don't know better. Of Course, you do have occasional loon that needs a good crack over the head with a bat to smarten them up. Toronto is mickey mouse no need to be afraid. You wanna see bad take a trip south of the border and try chi town, Miami, LA, DC, and if you really want to see hard asses hit Brazil and check out flavelas.
