Omnisphere 1.03 Update is Out

Tons of bug fixes and 2,000 new patches based on 150+MB of new samples, including 100s of vocal/choir patches (EWQLSC quality, plus "Pop" vocals) and a ton of new synth bass, mono leads, and poly/pad patches. Free update for registered owners.

Gotta love those Spectrasonics guys. The cost of this synth keeps getting more and more justifiable.

edit: forgot to mention - that annoying "you cannot load one patch while another is loading" message is gone! :)

Sweet! Thanx for the info. :eyes:

No problem, Numb. The new dance and vocal patches are really cool!

For those of you who don't own Omnisphere and are considering it, this (free) update doubles the number of presets from around 2000 to over 4000! It's also a huge increase in the number and variety of available samples in its core library.

BTW, if you Omnisphere users are looking for ways to reduce its enormous CPU burden, check this page out:

http://support.spectrasonics.net/om...pts/page02.html

The most helpful part to me, having just upgraded from a dual-core to a quad-core, was that it is more efficient to run multiple instances of Omnisphere (as opposed to multi-timbral mode) on a quad-core system because of the way the CPU load is distributed among individual cores.

Sweet, more good info. Thanks again. :gsmile:

How does the CPU load compare on similar sounds made by Arturia plugins. Is it a CPU hog?
cryophonik
It's definitely a CPU hog, although this last update was supposed to make it a little more efficient. I've never used the Arturia plugs, so I can't give you a comparison. Hopefully someone else can.

Hey cryophonik, checked your music. You have good sounding productions/production qualities for what im guessing is ITB mixed. Do you use a console or summing mixer? Have you thought about adding a summing mixer to your mix? I use a Cakewalk Sequencer and not too relaxed about the the quality of the mixes the engine bounces to audio. So i'm looking at Summing Mixer like the Neve 8816 or Tube Tech SSA 2A to allow that width and more spaced headroom between the tracks in the mix. I've heard some comparison tests between software ITB summed mix and analogue summing mixer and there is a definately a favorable difference towards the analogue mixer. A summing mixer is just a piece of the puzzle, and other good analogue gear helps the process, but the summing bus in Cakewalk software's just doesn't allow the track spacing and width that a console or summing mixers do.

omnisphere is way too expensive, i got it for free as a torrent but it doesn't save patches maybe this update will fix that
cryophonik
Thanks Kismet7! Yes, everything is mixed ITB. I used to own an analog console (Soundcraft) that I used both live and in my studio, but sold it years ago when I gave up live gigs. My MOTU 828mkII and JoeMeek OneQ serve me much better for my front end anyway (for recording synths, vocals, guitars, bass) and take up much less space. I've never tried a summing mixer, but have heard great things about them, particularly the Neve and, I believe, the Tonelux.

Which Cakewalk sequencer are you using?

I also employ a MOTU 828 MKII for AD/DA. I use P5 1.5 for sequencing, it gets the job done as far as allowing good workflow and the creative aspect of music to get down. I know 2.5 out there but the interface change never worked for me when I tried the demo. Enjoy 1.5's simple intuitive interface. Ultimately, I might end up at Ableton's doorstep, I really like its sound engine and it has some tools in there that aren't in P5, but for now im good.

BTW I highly recommend researching summing mixers, or trying one out. Cakewalk Sequencer mix bus engines are weak.
