venue was pretty sick last year(outdoor techno area). Definitely will be making this to see at least konrad and buttrich. Tons of guest appearances last year.

For the 2nd year, AM is going to throw a huge show with a ridiculous lineup. But I'm probably going to exercise restraint.

Last year, we went to the Am Only party @ Karu with really high expectations. However, came away a little disappointed for several reasons. First of all, it was not a bad party. The staff/bouncers were pretty cool, unlike some other club, which shall remain unnamed, but rhymes with mase.

There were some issues though:
1. Venue - all of the great techno / tech house DJs played outside (where it was humid) as opposed to inside the main room where the trance acts went on. After Sander Van Doorn ended (pretty darn early) or during Eddie Halliwell, people just filtered out of the main room, making it practically empty the rest of the night (at least whenever we walked by it was), which was sort of a waste, given it was the largest room at the venue. The house room, a long and narrow room was pretty packed (but not too uncomfortable) most of the night. The most popular area though, hands down, was the main outside patio where all of the tech DJs were going off. We felt like the main room would have been a way better venue for these artists, given the number of people outside. Also, we went outside, but our friends did not b/c of fire marshal issues...I attempted a semi-coherent conversation with the fire marshal, but I was pretty out of it. So, no convincing the marshal/bouncer to let our friends skip past the other 100 people in line.

2. Start of Set Times - many of the DJs we'd hoped to see went on really early, starting around like 10pm or so and b/c we’d been on the Sunset Cruise, we missed quite a few good acts. My bad.

3. Reality – I need to be reminded that it is physically impossible to be in 3 places at 1 time. So, while the Swedish House Mafia is playing in 1 room, Sander Van Doorn is playing in another, and Marco Carola is going on outside, one has to choose where to be. And if they stay inside, they run the risk of not getting outside until after a wait. It’s just too hard to see everyone.

4. Length of Set Times - while I LOVE WMC b/c you get to hear so many different sounds, new tracks, and amazing sets. However, 1 hour at a night party just isn’t enough time for a proper set IMO.

It wasn’t a bad party or a bad time, but with a huge list of DJs, you need to realize that set times will overlap (and not be very long) and manage your expectations. I’m glad I checked out a new club and heard some great music, but probably would not go again.

I couldnt agree with you more...I was lucky with Space last year....but I do know how they treat people when it meets capacity...

the mention of fire marshal brings back horrible memories of space 05...i try to avoid them like the plague...

thank god im only interested in the tech acts...i agree, if u wanna see the varieties...big talent parties are bad ideas bc u get stuck missing certain acts

and set times last yr all i did was see djs palying long/marathon sets...this yr im a little more open to variety

....great insight bc the points you touched on ive sure as hell experienced during the week

if they were giving free blowjobs and the cure for cancer away at the door of space...i still wouldn't step foot in there.

space was a great last yr and year prior and even in 06 when i went...

get there before 12/1...most of the bartenders make great drinks and generally they bring the best lineup minus the bull you get at opium groups

well of course space is going to be great with a f*ck you band. ;) lol. if space has the right lineup this year then ill make it over there again. if not, i wont bother. it can be a pain, but if the lineup is worth it then just be smart about it and get there early to avoid any hassle. everyone always bitches and i just find it funny.

Yeah getting there early for WMC is the ONLY OPTION. I would show up at 10 on the dot.

I dont want to be forced to go out that early. I don't like getting to a club before 1 or 2.
