a question about tube compressors

on a tube compressor there is no threshold setting, so can someone please tell me how a tube compressor works i.e. at what level it knows to start compressing?

i know hardware tube compressors do have threshold control.
about t-racks....i think you can find the answer in the manual. |

Errr, I hope you realise that T-Racks isn't a tube compressor....
Anyway, if it doesn't have threshhold it might have input gain. Which can be used the same way. |
