| Hey fellas. I'm interested in recording nature :) Thunder, Rain, Birds, the beach, etc. Is there anything that is portable, cheap, and of good quality? I'd like to spend at most $100 but would be willing to pay $150. I have no idea how much things like this cost or even where to begin to look. Your help and suggestions are much appreciated. |

You'd be looking for portbable flash recorders, korg, m-audio sony, edirol and a couple of others have them out. It'll cost a bit more than 150 though.
I don't have any first hand experience so I'd also be curious to hear from anyone who's used one of these things... |

| Shotgun Mics would yield good results i would think, plus as kit said those hand portable things look alright. |

Yeah, I think you'd want a shotgun mic to go along with the portable recorder... But I have no idea which gear's best in this stuff, I've never used it.
But I'm constantly hearing sounds I'd like to stick in tracks, so I think I should grab one and just mess around... |

| If your just after the sounds then www.freesound.org should do it, I've found thunder/birds of all different sound types/qualities. |
