The main design considerations behind the Arcline 6 were versatility and easy of use. Portability and a sophisticated rigging system that requires no specialist knowledge by the user were also high on the list.
In order to prevent having to use multiple enclosures to ensure a wide enough horizontal dispersion, the Arcline 6 was conceived with a 120 degree dispersion in the horizontal plane to avoid such problems. This dramatically improves the perceived sound quality and definition by reducing phase interactions from adjacently placed enclosures to zero.
Placing all the components on a virtual arc with a true 120 degree dispersion and extremely even polar response has also resulted in a very uniform coverage pattern, allowing all of the audience to experience the same sound.
Traditional HF spacings and path length compensation among line source enclosures have almost always meant a trade off in HF performance, so a new design of waveguide has been employed for the Arcline 6. The new waveguide and common virtual feed point allows a flat response up to 21KHz even when coupled with multiple enclosures to form a cylindrical wavefront.
