Reasonably priced, decent hotel in Manhattan?

I know there have been a million threads about this and I did try and search for them....
Could anyone lend a suggestion as to a fairly inexpensive, decent, clean, spacious hotel in the city?

for nyc midtown area for somewhere decent that's good isn't it? also it's $249 not $309...i got that price because a couple co-workers and i were talking hotels for someone's friend |

DoubleTree Hotel. 2 sets of friends from Toronto and one from Boston have stayed there. Right smack in midtown (lex and 50's), decent rooms, etc......
Also, if location doesnt matter as much, my parents stay at Days Inn when they make a quicker trip to see me. It on the Upper West Side (94th and b'way) Very cheap (I think $149 a night?). |

thats cheap if we are talking prime/summer time, but when I was helping Sheila find a place, even for the month of May, we found lots of hotels in midtown for $150-250. |

Thanks for the help guys. That Omni one looks lovely, but too pricey. Hmmmn, that Wellington one doesn't look too bad Steve. Nice, about $150 a night. Ritz Carlton, yea right :tongue2 haha. The Pod one looks cool but I've got smokers so that won't work.
Thanks guys. Looks like my best bets are the Wellington or the Days Inn.
*Edit* Just checked out the Days Inn... with the AAA discount it's less than $100 a night! Thanks Kel :) Are the rooms big there? I only stayed in a hotel in NYC once and the room was tiiiiiiiiny. |

Dream Hotel - Modern, posh, ing wicked - perhaps best kept secret in NYC. Loved the place, flat screen TV, fridge with red bull and vodka stuffed in it, next to time square. Oriental motif similar to Buddakan restaurant (those who know what I'm talking about).
About $200/nite, could be less if you search for promo codes or hotels.com
