| I started to listen to trance in '97. A friend has bought the Dream Dance Vol. 5 and he hated it ... I was always interested in things that other people hate - I always like them, really! And really ... for me it was brillant. There were tracks like DJ Quicksilver - Free and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar on it and I loved this CD, it was marvellous! Of course everyone told me I'm a crazy fool, but I didn't mind. Yes, with this CD everything started... |

| It has been around my neighborhood for a few years now. Back when house music was big the dj's would throw a trance song in once in a while and the crowd would go nuts. This was back in 96. Couldn't put my finger on what it was up until about 97. Then it started for me. Instead of house music(which is ok) I started what we all know as a "TranceMission" which is still running strong today.:D |

my senior year in high school which was 99/00...i was living in japan for 10th and 11th grade and there really was no trance scene there..i lived on a marine base near Hiroshima..i used to go to all the japanese bars and clubs but they never played trance...i was a total enigma junkie in middle school though and i like prodigy a lot when they came out...they dont count as "trance" but they are definately a genre of electronica i think...
as for which DJ/set/songs got me into the real deal...i'd have to go with songs like "Brainchild" and Viagra "Secrets" both of those songs were on a David Padilla cd called "In the Mix" i bought it my senior year...also Sasha GU013 got me hooked and just going clubbing in ft.lauderdale my senior year practically every weekend introduced me to a lot of great breaks and hard trance...i was instantly addicted:) |

Hmm I don't know exactlly when I started listening to trance. I grew up listening to 80's stuff like Depeche Mode, U2, Tears For Fears, New Order, etc. I also liked alot of the underground industrial stuff that was being turned out. Stuff that used alot of synths and the like. I didn't like anything too hardcore or full of rage though. In the early 90's I liked some of the alternative rock that was all the back then. Nirvana, Alive n Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. I think the first recollection of getting into trance was being introduced to Orbital in the early 90's. Belfast got me started. Then tracks like Lush 3-1/3-2 and Halcyon really got me intruiged. Oh also I was really diggin Enigma too. So between Enigma and Orbital I was finding a sound I loved. I think trance was the natural direction to go. Mid to late 90's saw me listening to DJ's like BT, Sasha, and Oakenfold. By then I was hooked. I wanted anything and everything trance. When programs like Napster and Audio Galaxy started popping up I was in heaven. I was finding music that I would have never heard had it not been for these progs. Now that Napster and AG are dead I am wondering where I will turn to continue to get my trance fix. Yes I am well established enough now to know who turns out good stuff and who doesn't but I fear I may not find new and exciting stuff that comes out. I can count on Sasha, PVD, Tiesto, Solar Stone, BT, Way Out West, etc. but I dont want to miss out on newcomers to the scene. Oh well. I'm sure something will pop up. Until then I will just have to be extra careful of the stuff I buy and won't be taking any chances either. I'll stick to what/who I know. I don't need to be buying anything that reminds me of ATB. :)

| i started listening to robert miles and sven vaeth since 1997, but i got helplessly addicted to trance in 2000, when pvd released "tell me why (the riddle)". i know it is not exactly very trance, but it was the stepping stone for me, i tried out other tracks of the same genre (thx to napster), and then i got addicted to people such as ferry corsten and above & beyond |

I started listening to some kinds of electonic music in '90/91 when i was 9/10 years old
Mostly eurodance till 94, then some techno/trance tracks in 94 but I really went into trance music in '95. (mostly Psy-trance, but also trance tracks like Jam & Spoon, Love Stimulation etc...)
Was a lot into techno and hardcore as well back then :D
Bought my first mixer in '96, and turntables in '99 ;) |

i first started to listen to dj tiesto's "live at innercity" from 1999. that cd was the thing that made me like trance. well, after a while i didn't find any more good trance in a long time, but then...when i was at a party i heard someone playing something like trance nation 3, then i REALLY started to like trance, though now i hate that compilation. now the internet suddently internet became 10 times as useful as if i didn't like trance:cool:
one day i was downloading "johan gielen - velvet moods". then randomly, i just dropped by the id tag, and it said: www.tranceaddict.com! and when THIS site was showing up...BOOM!my ADDICTION REALLY STARTED! it was about last summr or something.
sorry you must be tired of reading:toothless , but i just had to tell the whole story! |

Two years ago. It was Mel C. -Which is still one of my favs. I didnt really start getting into it though until last October. I went to a few rave parties in Kent. Wow....that was the best!
Now I have 800 songs on this computer and most of them are techno/trance. |
