Imogen Heap - Have You Got It In You (Third Emotion Remix)

Been producing for well over 3 years now, so I hope this isn't amateurish in any way. I love the original, and I envisaged turning it into something people could enjoy on a dancefloor.
It's a Remix which has took me the better part of 4 months, but feels rewarding to have completed.
The remix was made for my love of the original track, whilst adding my own signature sound on to it. So that main focus from the original record is certainly the forefront of this.
Any constructive feedback would be wholeheartidly appreciated. :)

| The vocals dont seem to gel well with the music for me, I dont know the original track so cant really judge it that well. |

Appreciate the comments/feedback. Thank you :)
Bassline key is something I was conscious of, but that didn't seem to worry me too much as I wanted to keep it simple, with little movement. Appreciate your feedback on that, means I can re-evaluate it, with a view to it providing more rhythm.
The vocals are from a radio cut, so it's hard to gel them in as i'd like. Also means it's really hard to manipulate structure and especially EQs on certain elements.
Probably said it too much but greatly appreciate the feedback. Enjoying this a lot at the moment and i'm really hoping to perfect this remix for people to enjoy.
Cheers.
P.s. Link is updated and should hopefully be a little less muddy. |

The kick could be snappier and bigger.
your hi hat patterns are interesting!
i feel like your intro layout isn't really building any drama or suspense. maybe try to keep it a bit more constant rather then breaking it up so much.
I like how you used the vocal.
cool stuff! |

Hi there,
First to answer your question : no it does not sound amateurish. I have heard amateurish and this is not it. It sounds very interesting and very funky and I started bopping my head. Yes I love the vocals and your rendition of them. Around minute 6, it sounds like there are too many elements going at the same time, but not for too long. It does sound offkey at some points - probably because the high voices do not counterpoint with the fluctuating bassline (which is very groovy by the way)
The track is among some of the most original stuff I have heard in a long time - it sound experimental but not in a beginner type of way.
I see this track on a Sci-fi movie soundtrack.
Level it up, clean it, fix minute 6's intensity and it should be ready for the trials!
Good work!

Joey; Firstly, Thank you for the comments, it really is massively helpful. :) As you've pointed it out, I agree with you on the structure of the intro. Is there anything that you expected to come in whilst listening to it, within the first 1min30, that didn't? I usually engage the suspense factor on expecting to hear something great, but it's obviously not easily pulled off.
Dany; Firstly, again, comments are very helpful and much appreciated. :) Will look into 6mins in a bit more detail. The shift up in intensity of that certain section was hard to work with, but great fun to play around with and adding new depth to the track. I agree, it does sound a bit muddy/overloaded at that point.
Thanks for the comments on the bassline, 2 of the 3 layers I made on a Virus. Can't hype her up enough, she's my pride and joy.
Appreciate the kind comments regarding the quality. I'm well aware it isn't of a brilliant pro standard, but comments like these will help me work towards that.
Thank you kindly, both of you.
Will work on it in the week and post an update late week. |

Made a quite significant update to this, after spending a few weeks re-working it and spending even more time on the EQing.
Made the following changes;
- Added more depth and presence to the kick drum
- Changed the key and added more drive to the bassline
- Toned down the 6min part slightly
- Added some more filler elements into the intro, to make it more interesting
- Removed a little less threshold from the compression on the kick/bass to better gel them together
Any further comments would be magic. Also whether the changes i've made are in the right direction, is pivitol to me finishing this.
I hope the key on the bassline is now more fitting with the tone of the main-track. It's insanely hard to balance the two so they sit right.
Thanks in advance. :)
