Ive just fired up my laptop there tonight an plugged in the external hdd where I store my music, I noticed it didnt do the what would you like to do with these files thing so I went into 'My Computer' and double clicked on the ':F' drive which is the external an its saying that the drive has not been formatted and would I like to format it now...

Is there any way I can get my files off this drive or just make it ok again? I have loads of music thats been sent to me by producers ect and i'll more than likely not be able to get half the music back otherwise...

Anybody any ideas? :(

Now quick, go and back up your . You don't know for sure if the HD is on it's way out, or if this was just a freak occurrence.

Back up your now, fool. Your drive suddenly working again has lured you into a false sense of security :p

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.

I bought this Maxtor from Argos 2/3 months ago...

Thing is I dont have enough space to back this up.. theres over 100gb on it and I bought it because i had no space left on the laptop..

Might be time for a new external HD then, hmm?

Or, you could just risk it all.
