eh? I'm not allowed to point things out if it's Konrad, but with Armin it's alright?

Don't get me wrong, I think Konrad's an alright guy, or whatever his real name is, cba, I'm just saying, doesn't it get boring?

I've noticed it in every genre, the sets all contain the same sounds and they all play their friend's and labelmate's tracks in some giant techno reach-around. I'm not JUST blaming Konrad, I'm blaming lots of people. And maybe it's not a bad thing, maybe it's just the way it goes, but I looooove looking for and playing whatever.

Maybe I'm completely off-base too, and they're not going at it with the mentality I think they are and I'm just spouting complete bs conjecture, but it sure seems like they're doing what I portrayed most of the time.

Not to mention your constant complaining is getting a bit annoying; I mean that in the nicest way possible. We all know you think the current scene is boring but there really nothing we could recommend you do besides maybe dig a bit deeper and find something you like or move on to something else. Yeah there's a lot of recycling going on but most of us just bite past that and look further until we find something we like. It doesn't change a thing to keep complaining. And again, I mean that in the nicest way possible.

I dig deeper all the time. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around why no one else seems to. That's all. Can someone explain?

No you're wrong, I feel you man. I'm sick of a lot of sounds too, you just don't see me bitching about it all the time. If you check my last two mixes for example (the one in my sig and Nancy) you wont find any of the standard tech house sound being played right now. At the same time I can't say I dislike it as a whole and complain all the time because I still dig a lot of the stuff coming out from the realm and there is a lot to be explored, ie Wolf + Lamb, Spectral and Circus Company at this point for me, all known labels that give the genre a good name IMHO.

The problem with some people is that they just become too comfortable with the sound and jaded and they forget that EDM is about pushing the envelope and keeping it fresh.

edit: and remember 90% of everything is . It's all about digging so stop being so ing pessimistic.

Actually, I have a more recent and relavent example: Solarstone's Electronic Architecture comp.

Those guys looked around for new and different producers on off beat labels releasing a different type of sound than asotrance which is what they were normally lumped under. It was a really good trance comp and I feel it's because they brought something new to the table rather than play an Armind track two months before it's released.

Maybe I'm an elitist prick, but I want djs to put more effort into finding music I don't know by artists I don't know and help me branch my tastes outward.
Ted Promo
And the reason why I complain? I'm on a forum where you're supposed to voice an opinion.

And because no one else seems to complain, so I will in their stead :p

Stop listening to dj's then. Here's a recommendation:

Voicing your opinion and restlessly complaining, despite all evidence, have nothing whatsoever to do in common. ;)

What evidence? There's no evidence that this comp was lazily constructed by tracks that are from Black's friends :p

I don't come on here wondering if my posts are going to appease some kid from Jersey who plays underground house music in someone's attic just like I don't expect you to come on here wondering if your posts are going to appease some 23 year old fag who looks like a 13 year old girl who plays dick pumping neo-classical. Close the window and move on :p

I was being sarcastic, but fair enough let's move on.

I I'm aware it's the internet and good music is good music, but we all make fun of Armin punting Discover and Tyas and Anjuna, why not when Black is punting Troxler, Dear, Ostgut, and other ?

Maybe I expect too much but I thought Holden branched out quite a bit with his At the Controls and now it just seems like everyone is jerking each other off to make a buck rather than crate digging and being innovative .

I dunno, maybe I'm just sick of edm :p

What Konrad does - does not compare to any of the crappola put out by the big trance dj's.

You are saying he needs to be innovative and you gave the example of that Solarstone cd. Not 1 name is recognizable and for a reason.. it sucks. Sucks so bad that he had to release a compilation cd because Rain Stars Eternal blew massive loads a few months prior.

I need to check this comp out.

My bad - 1 name is recognizable because he posts in the COR. that's all.

That Solar Stone cd was not bad at all. And yes, you can compare the two different types of DJs because they are both DJs who play dance music.

Sorry, but this makes you sound like you have no idea of what you're talking about.

rain stars eternal had 1 good song on that cd and the one after only had one good song from Stan Void.

I just don't think that is a good example of being innovative and it actually working.
