Allow me to pinpoint my agitation on this issue. It was not Ian that irked me. If anyone were to take over the reins of a headliner, it would be him. I''m always surprised to see his website lacking national gigs simply because he is a fantastic DJ. I actually stayed an hour just to hear him play.

But -- he wasn't even on the flier. Quit misrepresenting. I know nowhere does it specify an "extended set" or how long one would be, but Ian was not advertised. I wanted to see one of the three DJs. Two of them played and finished, leaving the last one to close. Why did this not happen?

I understand. They need to specify stuff like that on the fliers. Otherwise, you are going to have some disappointed people. You are right, looking at the flier, it never specifies him playing all night, but it is assumed. It made it seem like this was a special, extended set, but in reality, he was playing a 3 hour set just at odd hours. Who was it that came here and played a 6 hour set? I was expecting something like that. Like I said, nothing against Ian, but if you go to see a headliner, you want to see them headline.
I'm also reminded when Oakenfold was here a couple years ago. He was playing a great set, but then his opener got back up there. Kind of killed the mood.

Because, Sam, Dubfire is simply too underground and cannot bear when the sun comes out.

Have you never heard of science?

When I was told that Dubfire was going to finish Ian happened to be standing right next to me and he said If I wanted he would run home and grab his tunes and play a bit. So I said sure. It was a last minute decision.

That's right. Did you go and if so did you stay the whole time?

Do you mean wasn't going to finish? Well, Ian's a stand up guy if he did that. Was there a reason Dubfire didn't close?

Was he not billed for a certain amount of time?

This is atlanta, the contracts arent as strict as for big festivals. If the crowd dies off, he leaves. Simple as that.

It was not bad. Just not great either. Not a bad crowd, just not a great one, and by no means a crowd that was partying hard. I have seen Deep Dish spin well into day light many times. I am sure it is not as much fun spinning solo, as it is with a running mate.

Sound was much more basic then what I expected. Certainly the new sound he is into and not the off-the-cuff you would here in NY.

My qualm with seeing DJs in smaller cities is that they tend to stick to tracks and or remixes off their albums and do not mix it up as much.

Venue and sound system shows promise. I think half the crowd was Eastern European? no issues there, they can party.

Anyways I am off to NY for a week. Will try and get into a greater degree of trouble there.

Dubfire was good, not great. he wasn't flexing his anything. seeing him get high on stage was kinda cool I guess.... Sound in there was OK, that's it. Not a bad place at all. The main room was WAY too small for a sound that big. I could turn around and face the back wall just past the dance floor and hear the bass bouncing off the wall, instant trainwreck effect, lol. Overall good show, good experience. I just wish Dubfire had been ON fire, which he wasn't. every dj has off nights. also - why were there more people on the stage behind Dubfire than there were dancing, lol? I've never been to Opera, but I used to love eleven50. Dreamz was definitely not as nice as eleven50 used to be. Not being able to go outside at all kinda sucked too. Again - I had a great time, but I expect a little more out of Liquified. I guess I've just been to too many legendary Liquified parties :)

Liquified PLEASE book more shows here, the sound was great!!! SOOOO much better than opera...Id go out soo much more if there were more shows there

as for dubfire.... well.... some good beats, some nice bass... but no progression of the set at all... after 2 hours I felt like I was pretty much listening to the same thing...it was okay, but nice to have a night out!
