Is it just me?

Call me crazy, but I swear swapping alcohol labels may be another point on the "How Opera assrapes customers" list. I always drink less while I'm there (because they rip you off), always ask for premium liquor, and ALWAYS have the worst hangover imaginable... I've concluded that this is only possible if they're not actually serving me the premium liquor.

Whatta ya think? Would Opera really stoop that low?

I just try to drink very little while I'm out at clubs.

lol, definitely wouldn't surprise me.

its extremely common.theres usually 3 ways they do this.

1.you ask for a red bull and grey goose.not vodka. you specifically say "grey goose" or insert whatever vodka you like here:

if they can get away with it your going to get bottom shelf.if they believe they can get it past you its a lock.its usually done on nights where they know its going to be packed and it makes it harder to complain(which mostly no one does).this is an easy one.and its very common.even if you complain they can just say "i didnt hear you or i didnt have grey goose on hand etc etc."like i said its the easiest.

2.the ol "half and half"

you can pretty much guess this one obviously.im talking half top shelf mixed with half bottom shelf and put in a top shelf bottle.this ones more common than you'd think.and its generates a TON of money for the club.and unless your a top shelf snob odds are in the bars/club favor your not going to figure it out.these chances increase in the clubs favor if the bottles are behind the bar on ice.ever notice that in some places?its not for your benefit.the cold increases the chance of you not tasting inpurities in the alcohol.are you drunk or buzzing?now the chances are totally in their favor.

3.polishing a turd:

junk booze in a high class bottle.pretty it up all you want its junk bottom shelf booze.like i said kept on ice it increases the chances you wont know or even care by some point in the night.not as common.but it happens.

ive dated a number of bartenders and ive been told some bars/clubs they worked at did it quite often.it generates a ton of cash for them and of course there out to get every dollar.and its something that is almost impossible to enforce.

not every place does this of course. but it does happen. a lot.not a whole lot you can do about it really.just try to enjoy your club expierience the best you can:D

Hmmmm That IHOP OJ container with the napkin that they serve at opera sure sounds similar to this :tongue2

What bigjimslade002 said is completely true.

Don't order top shelf liquor at a club/party. You're not going to get it. You will of course be charged for it.

You get a hangover with anything you drink, no matter quality. Alcohol, whatever brand you are drinking, dehydrates you. A hangover is your body telling you that it is in need of water.

And that it requires more alcohol.

I rarely drink while out. I was going to have a few beers Thursday night, but after paying 6 dollars for the first one, I stopped. I don't even want to know how much a shot or mixed drink would be.

Jager bombs are like $8 or $9 I think at Opera.

If it wasn't for the fact that they hit the spot so well, I would totally not order them.

They were trying to charge $10 for cigarettes.
