What do you think is used to get this vocal effect (the stuttering "pa-a-a-a-a-ay-y-y-yd"...):

Or here speedyshare link if you prefer:

Is that vocoder?
And how to get that thing with Reason?
Or in LP8...?

Tis' a fine gated pitch envelope edit, but 'tis no vocoder.

Do you think I could get that effect by cutting the vocal end in to pieces and copy paste the pieces (and alter the bitch of the clips)?
Or what do you think would be the best solution?

That's what I do.

I just slice up the audio ribbon I want to adjust and then lower the pitch of each slice I want adjusted, accordingly. My DAW (Project 5)lets me groove a segment of audio, which puts each beat into a slice I can control, independently of the others.

This is one such edit I made for my remix of Art of Trance's 'Madagascar'.

Yeah, use Recycle to make a Rex patch or any other audio program to make an NNXT patch for Reason.
Another possible method could be using the right sidechain compression, but you wouldn't have as much control over it that way. It depends how cut-up you want it to sound.

just use a sampler. load in the vocal sample, set the start and end point to where you want the stutter edit to occur and then use automation to control the pitch.

But if the vocal sample is longer, this doesn't really work... or at least not in Reason NN19 sampler...

So I think I need to cut the vocal to pieces (or at least the parts i need to go stutter)... But good to know it's not a vocoder or some other. :D
