| I actually found this a real pleasure to listen to. Lovely and yet diverse. I really like that you're not afraid to try something a little bit outside the square and not conform to what many DJs would expect a set to consist of, by that I mean really beat based music that most consider dance music. I really think you've pulled this off well, and I'll be giving it more listens down the track too. Well done.;) |

I'm really gonna try and give this a listen.
I've been so lazy about DJ Promo stuff lately though that I may not get back for a while, dance music has been kinda stagnant for me lately. This really does look nice though. |

| Pretty good. I remember some of the placement feeling a tad off for me at points, but the music was enjoyable overall. I'm rather familiar with this music so it wasn't incredibly new for me, but definitely had me vibing :) |

I agree, the placement was off at times. At points it just didn't flow. It got better towards the last 30 minutes.
Had you heard the interview with Mr. Martin before? :stongue:

This was a very nice listen. Flow seemed to be interrupted at certain points, a transition near the beginning and a few near the back were a bit jarring to me (mostly coming out of dancier stuff into the more ambient pieces), but nothing too serious. Mixing between the tracks seemed very solid and I really liked the classical / ambient stuff as a kind of backdrop here.
I felt on the whole you did a good job using those pieces to set a kind of tone and then using that vibe and energy to go into the more dance oriented stuff. Personally, I wouldn't tackle something like this because I wouldn't know how to handle the flow, but I think you pulled it off quite nicely. Dance music and classical type music don't mesh very well, at least to my ears, but I think you did a good job of putting the two together.

Justin I'll be honest with you in saying that I only listened to the first hour and a half thus far - it is a long mix. The reason for that, however, is that when the groovy parts were on, I was really enjoying jamming to them. You actually threw some brilliant tracks in there, especially the klezmer-like one (2nd or 3rd track). You see though, those parts which I was really enjoying would end and the slow stuff would begin. In terms of your transitions to and from the slower parts, I actually think those were excellent. The problem is that I was getting so into the groovy parts, that when the more ambient stuff came on I was like "man, I really wanna listen to that other he was playing". And it was a little irritating, because I knew the bounciness would be coming back, but I didn't know when, and those more drifting parts ended up being a lot longer than I expected.
So I will for sure listen to the rest, I'll tell you that, but I also really wished that you kept one part for the beginning and one for the ned, rather than going back and forth. Obviously that was the intention- to construct a varied sound scape, but I felt that you could have done so more successfully (or at least more coherently) by placing some of the tracks elsewhere in the mix.
Keep it up though, your track selection and mixing are nice.

thanks for the feedback adam. I think I could have tackled it by doing a "cd1" and "cd2" of each style of music, but I wanted to try getting the two tangled up and seeing how it turned out. thanks for listening.
