Never been a huge fan of RH (I actually never heard anything by them except Kid A (pretty decent) and OK Computer (overrated)), but I remember Yorke's debut The Eraser being pretty solid little album. I always liked that pseudo complex beat programming and not too dark atmosphere on it, and especially that minimalistic approach which ensured that you can fully concentrate and enjoy every single awesome sound Thom and Nigel produced.
These days The Eraser Rmxs appeared with remixes of all songs from The Eraser from quite respected artists such as Burial, The Bug, Four Tet and Surgeon. Despite the great remixers I was affraid this one won't live up to original, but I was wrong. This one is also a bomb, maybe not better than original, but certainly not very far from it. The Bug, Modeselektor and Various Production delivered the finest remixes, The Field did a decent job in his own style, Four Tet's remix came closest to original in sound and Burial's remix was unfortunately the biggest disappointment, since he just brought his usual effort, this time with cut up Yorke instead of girl next door vocals. All in all, this could easily be the best remixed album I've ever heard.
I highly recommend both original and this one, they are not that different and are equally awesome. |

Coincidentally i listened to The Eraser and the remix album in tandem earlier this evening. I listen to The Eraser regularly, it's a great album.
I think you should give Radiohead a chance however, hear how they evolved from one album to the other. The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A + Amnesiac (they're like part 1 and 2 of the same project, i always listen to them together), Hail To The Thief and last but not least their latest effort In Rainbows which was very, very good. Radiohead is art rock, and more. |

The Eraser is the from the genius of Thom Yorke. The EP for this album is great too. Called "Splitting Feathers". |
