Not sure if this is the same the world over, but the CDJ1000 has shot up in price MASSIVELY!

Presumably to do with the current poor rate the pound has against the dollar, I purchased my CDJ1000 MK3s in 2006, and at that time aquired them for about £750 a piece, perhaps a bit less - but today it looks like the standard retail price is £899!!!!!!!

That's a big difference, but if these units are made in China then it's inevitable that the price will have shot up becuase they sell in USD.

Pleased I got mine when I did.......

Yeah, but to be honest, everything seems to have gone up in price. When you think about it, it's farking bull that the rest of the world now has to fork out more for gear (and other ) because of some bankers on the other side of the world

Haha, it's not just the US... the whole world is pretty f*ked at the moment.

I just came across the receipt for my CDJ-1000 MK2's. I paid $929 each, almost 4 years ago!

Aren't electronics supposed to get cheaper? Me thinks Pioneer sucks. Particularly when their CDJ-400 deck does more and costs less, it's just not "the flagship".

i bought mine for 950 3 yrs ago and sold them this year for 1000 used!

wow i never would have seen that coming.... i looked into them a few years back and decided they were too expensive. i saw the title to this thread and was hoping they were 50% off or something because something newer was coming out. oh well.

Pioneer has not put the price up, it's just the pound is weak as e now so import goods cost more to buy due to the exchange rate.

...........errrrr........... which is exactly what I said...! :conf:

Yeah, its the same for the lower models too...

Should have bought them a year or so ago... same model, price has increased by 25% though!

How can the economy be ty and the prices go up at the same time :eyes:

currency is prob the main culprit but it could be supply vs demand. either pioneer cut production numbers and raised the price, or the inventory of cdjs is low and they are raising the price in accordance to supply/demand.

Yeah just to expand on this,
All electronics imported into the UK have gone up in price. It's really, really to live in this country right now.
Then again I bought my equipment before the so-called "credit crunch", so to me, I'm a winner.

i think pioneer's going to be hit harder than most companies by the downturn. the yen going up dramatically is a big problem, but also their product line. 80% of what they sell (at least in oz) is plasma's and very high end models, they don't have a cheaper line. Sure they make one of the very best tv's but they're twice the price of others that are almost as good.
they don't have much cheaper stuff to fall back on, a few reasonably priced dvd players isn't going to make up the shortfall.
