lol i don't know what to say. people will dance to anything with a good beat, basically, when the volume is right. i mean granted you have to read the energy level and the pace of a set, but I don't have to play madonna at a frat party to get a good reaction.

Then you can follow that up with guillaume & the coutu dumonts - 'sous l'arbe' for a little wild reverie and a cool down after that jacking nonsense and then pick it right back up again with something else.

Try playing a gig outside of a club or your wanky little architect-freelance-graphic-designer-fashion-loving-so-underground-it-hurts clique. Even a track you consider relatively accessible and crowd-friendly will be met with groans of "can you play something with vocals?", "can you play a track I know?" and "have you got an Daft Punk?" I'm not referring to the horrible frat party situation where the crowd wants RnB either. Most of the house parties I've played have been populated with people who hit up decent techno clubs pretty regularly.

i wish i had a clique like the one you describe, but unfortunately i play for really normal people. most of the regulars at my weekly last fall for instance never would even listen to dance music outside of that space.
i definitely have got every quote you listed there and worse at my gigs, but it's only from a few people in a crowd of 50-700. These people have another beer and then get busy on the floor trying to get laid again. No one really cares that much. Usually they say something like "play something everybody wants to dance to" while everybody is dancing except for them lol
you make it sound like it's so hard. people who want to party will party. once they've had enough to drink it gets really easy

hey listen man you have insulted my friend here and to make things worse your point does not even come close to being cohesive. it is your decision to play at those parties, one should never be so hungry to 'play out'. i have never ever had to sell my soul playing anything outside my case and i've played alongside a few good men.
what i've learned during my short years on the circuit is that you don't judge a dj by their crowd or preference of crowd, you judge a dj by how he is able to fit in any situation without sacrificing their sound.

Meh. Seemed to hold some potential in the early goings, but petered out towards the end with meandering pointlessness. Sounds like they either didn't know what to do with the tune, or just went with a standard dance-track arrangement and called it a day.
