Netbooks and DJ software/hardware

Is anyone using DJ software/hardware (alone or in combination) on a "netbook" such as an MSI Wind or an Asus EEE PC? For example, the minimum requirements of Torq are:
Windows XP (SP2)+
Pentium III 933MHz
256MB RAM
One available USB port (for use by approved SynchroScience hardware device)
I'm just wondering if the Atom processor in all of these various netbook platforms can effectively handle something like Torq and an Xponent, as I think this will be my next upgrade. I've come to the understanding that the Atom performs similar to a P3 or better, but I'd like some real world experiences. Thanks! |

Well.. you shouldnt have a problem since a atom is closer to a newer iteration of the celeron processor. You should be ok. Bring your torq to a best buy and ask them to try it out on their netbooks and say youll only buy one if it works well and theyll most likely let you.
But ive run serato on an even older celeron and it runs fine. Torq is fairly similar so youre good. |

| It's probably best to get a traditional laptop, but the weight and portability of the netbook are just so damned attractive. :p |

| Yeah, but using any program like that on a screen only eight inches big would be irritatingly cumbersome at best. |

| Whatever machine I get will have more than one purpose. I'll use it on the occasional business trip, and the wife will use it on the wireless around the house as well. I just want to make sure I get the best bang for the buck. :D |

atom N270's are rated @ 1.66ghz i think. you should be good.
i'm seriously contemplating getting an MSI wind to accompany my current laptop. the one i have now is great for production and multimedia, but i really want the portability and battery life for taking notes in class and as a mobile solution for torq. |

People on the Torq forums have gotten Torq to work fine with MSI Winds and Eee PCs.

A netbook is fine? Why wouldnt he want one? If he doesnt mind using a smaller screen then more power to him since he doesnt have to carry around a possibly expensive computer.
Get a dell mini 9 and put OSX on it. That way you dont have to worry about crashing as much haha! |
