Bamshad, you're problem seems to be not having the voyager ste up correctly.
Do this.....

MIDI:

Leave them wired up just as you have them.

Set the voyager up for "Local Off". Check the manual for how to do this.

Environment (apple8):

Open the Environment and select the MIDI Instruments layer. If there are any objects in this layer, just delete them.

From the New menu, select Instrument. Set its port to {your soundcard} and its channel to 1. Rename it Moog.

Arrange (apple1):

Create a new Instrument track, stereo.

In the channelstrip I/O select "External Instrument" as the instrument plug-in.

In the External Instrument plug-in window, MIDI Destination field, select MIDI Instruments: Moog. In the Input field select {your soundcard} 1&2.

Save this as a channelstrip setting named "Moog".

Hope this helps, but if you still can't get it to work, sell it and do something else.

So you can record midi notes played live on the voyager, but when you hit play nothing happens?

What midi channel do you have selected on the instrument track?

Have you turned "local off" in the voyager?

What midi channel is receive set to in the Voyager?

I just had a lengthy PM session with dj bamshed, and I had him try all of this, to no avail. My suspicion now points toward there being a physical problem. Maybe a bad cable or a problem with the MIDI interface or a port on the voyager itself. I'll be interested to hear about the final resolution.

Ah....good man, I'd be interested to know myself. I think he said the midi interface was second hand. I used to do tech support for Moog in the UK, and even though some of them had some hardware issues with the very first models, I never came across one that had trouble receiving midi (at least not when it was able to send). The cable issue is easy to figure because you just switch the one that is sending once you want to play back the midi in logic.

If its not playing back to you, are you sure you have it properly connected to your interface? I see you got a Motu Fastlane now, what did you do with the Apogee and how do you have everything connected?

the fastline midi interface is connected to the mac via usb and im pretty sure its connected correctly i did it the way it stated in the manual.

i also have pictures that show how i connected them.

the only thing i can do right now is just record midi while playing the voyager live.. it wont play that sequence back though.

Did you download the driver from the motu site, or just use the one on the supplied disk?
