velocity issues with VSTs in Cubuse - please advise

Greetings,
I've been running into this weird but highly annoying problem when using VSTs (e.g. Nexus, V-Station, etc.) in Cubase. Basically, a few days into the project the volume for certain tracks would suddenly start spiking up every time I press "play." In other words, when I would stop playback and then start it again, the volume would suddenly jump up on certain tracks and then return to normal levels.
I thought it was an automation issue, but I checked all used automation and there was none in the spots where the volume was jumping. In fact, this basically happens every time I stop and then resume playback, regardless of where the cursor is in the track.
I also thought it I was unique to the specific VST, but this seems to be happening with multiple ones. Appreciate any help on this...
Thanks! |

Have you tried opening an old project file and seeing if the same problem arises there?
Or creating a new project, dropping in a few of the same vsts and see what happens? |

yup...it works fine in other projects as well as in older versions of the same project. This only started happening recently and the only thing I can think of that may be causing this is automation, but I checked the settings there is no automation written and this keeps happening no matter where I am in the project.
Is it just a sequencer glitch? |

Bad limiter or compressor? Try turning all of those off and try it. |

I dont think that's the problem cuz one of the tracks that's spiking has no effects or signal processors on it other than effects internal to the VST. Thanks for the suggestion though... |

Can you identify the problem to one particular area in the track or is just everytime u press play?
Also are you running in Rewire? i remember cubase used to do something similar when i used to rewire reason into it... |
