DEREK FOX:

Detroit’s industrial wasteland gave rise to a cornucopia of electronic music as well as providing multiple unique underground dancefloors. Derek Fox began exploring this underground in 1997. One year later he started experimenting with sound through Djing and production. In 1999 he began venturing out into the playing field. Since then Derek Fox has played at many venues throughout Detroit. The world famous Motor Lounge, The State Theatre, Bleu, The Works, Northern Lights, Exodus, ClubOneX, CityClub, Russel Industrial, and countless other warehouse venues, are some of the Detroit hot spots that he has entertained. In 2006 he was invited to play the Paxahau hosted Movement Festival. His approach to Djing is more of a science than an art and, through technical precision, he has tended so effectually to polish and adorn his craft. Derek Fox features a track selection spanning from techno to house and everything in between, accompanied by a wide range of available sounds and effects, enabling him to blend a perfect audio cocktail for the evening at hand.

ZITA:

Started in classical music at age 7 playing violin, but never in her dreams she thought that one day she would be DJ-ing. It all started when Zita's friends invited her to attend the Winter Music Conference in Miami. Thats where she met Dj D:FOLT and encouraged her to get into electronica. Learnt her basics on vinyl at MIW from DJ BreakdownB then continued spinning on cdj's next. A try turned into a passion. And the rest is history. Major musical influences are Armin van Buuren, Blank and Jones, however minimal plays an important part in her style. Other influences are coming from Burning Man's Opulent Temple Djs.

More about Zita's background.

Born and raised in Hungary. Moved to the USA when she was 14. In Hungary she attended a music specialty elementary school where music theory, choir, recorder plus an additional instrument was a requirement on a daily bases. Her classical training was later focused only on violin once she attended high school. Local string quartetts, symphonies, theater, Ameropa International Music Festival were just some of the activities she was doing. Her violin teachers included Charles Pickler, David Taylor, Peter Blagoevich, and Yarosevich to name a few.

To her parents encouragement, when she was not attending music rehearsals or lessons, she attended North Park University then later University of Illinois at Chicago to have a back up to the music profession.

Being a huge fan of dance music, it was only matter of time to try the other (non-classical) side of music. She often says, that whoever thinks that working the turntables is easy, first try it. It takes just as much amount of practice to do a good set, as to be able to perform a good Bach partita. And then Bach didnt even have to worry about making people dance.

It would be really great to see some TA's out on this one. Thursdays do stink and I have always been one to mention this. With that, I have always tried making it out once and awhile to the local weekday events to support as much as possible. I would mean a great deal to have you guys out especially since its been a bit since I have had the chance to play out here in Chicago.

Some of you have heard me speak about Derek on some level. If you haven't then let me be the first to tell you he is one of the most amazing DJ's I have had the pleasure to perform and learn from (International or Local). Most of the skill, technical ability and know how come from him so it will be a treat to have him playing here in Chicago with me.
