Based in Toronto, Dr. dFunkt are one of the new and few Canadian acts producing original funk music. Started by singer-songwriter Kamran Abdi, Dr. dFunkt have released two self-produced albums, Nuerotik and Running Hot (nominated for 2007 ECMA), and are set to release their new EP - Nothing Like It. Nothing Like It takes the dance driven feel of Nuerotik and mashes it with the live energy of Running Hot to produce a sound that bangs as hard as it rocks! Written in a span of two months, the EP sonically captures the essence of its subject material about lost love, drug abuse, disenchantment, and blackouts. Dark basslines, funky guitars and soulfully melodic vocals are a Dr. dFunkt trademark. The official release date for Nothing Like It is March 7 at Lee's Palace.
