| Does anyone know of any good, solid speaker stands 6-8"? Space is sparse atm so floor stands are out of the question really |

Make your own and it will be way better. You will need:
- 100mm PVC storm water pipe at chosen height
- two flat PVC end caps
- a piece of 18-20mm MDF the size of the base of your monitors
- another piece of MDF for the base - if the stand is low, you might not even need a base and just double-sided tape the end cap to the desk
- 16-18mm wood screws with large heads, or small heads and washers
- sand to fill the pipes with (absorb resonance)
- a piece of foam cut to the dimensions of the monitor base (extra decoupling)
to paint the wood, first sand the sides with a fine sandpaper. i recommend not using gloss - go for matte, its easier and you don't need to prepare the wood.
to paint the pvc, sand them with a ROUGH sandpaper and use plastics paint.
it takes a bit of effort, but it will cost half as much and the results will be far better. most desktop stands are poorly designed and transfer alot of resonance through a thin stand-piece. most floor stands suck too, tbh. |
