A lot of the time the DJ is obligated to keep the name quiet by the labels/producers to create hype around a new track. Also, quality tracks are the bread and butter for a DJ to create and hold a unique sound. Pro DJ's aren't going to just want to let the masses know the name of their most recent signature track. With how disposable Dance music is, being able to use a particular track for as long as possible before everybody and their mom is playing it is crucial. Especially if it's one of 'those' tracks that seems to be the unanimous favorite from listeners of the mix/set.
Besides half the fun of listening to these sets is getting everyone together to slowly ID the tracks from it. |
It's a nice strategy but ultimately I think it's disrespectful to the person who wrote the song and to the listeners who want to know. |

| Ive personally think that a dedicated dj that search for songs hours n hours just to find the most mint tunes out there deserv to have their secret dj weapons, i mean lets say you went thru 1000-2000 mp3 samples and find 1-2 good tunes,and then someone just wanna get the name to download it.... But i can also understand the other side, but having a couple of secret weapons is just good to make a hype for yourself. |

| its the labels job to promote tracks not the dj playing them ...no dj is obligated to id the name of a tune he bought i mean he already supported the artist by paying for it ..and i get what ur saying of course but u can not under any condition call it disrespectful |

| Will say that Tom's track selection is what I enjoy most about his sets. You're always getting fresh tracks that aren't being caned by everyone else. One of my favorite DJ's who never puts out subpar sets. |
