I'm looking for a quality USB soundcard with 2 stereo (4 mono) analog outputs and stable asio drivers for live use (ableton live + winxp). Inputs are not essential, but one line input would be nice. at least 24bit/44k ofc, and not over 250$. Oh and.. um.. black? if possible. :D
Any suggestions are appreciated.
palm
try firewire instead

On a related note, I read an article somewhere that Apple was officially outmoding Firewire. They wont be putting it on their new laptops.

You should probably check up on those things before you scare people and spread rumours ;)
Firewire 400 isn't apparent on most new Apple laptops but they still have Firewire 800 which is backwards compatible.

I'll prolly go with m-audio Fast track ultra. It's a bit more expensive, but seems to be a great card. ..also it's black lol :D
6in\6out is perfect for most situations.

On the other hand I could use my virus Ti desktop, but it seems a bit much to carry around. Anyone here tried using the Ti live as a sound card?

I was speculating on whether I should have purchased the FT Ultra a couple of weeks ago, but I decided that I didn't or probably wouldn't need that many in/outs on the audio interface and so I bought a 2nd hand discontinued M-Audio Firewire 410 with 4ins/4outs instead for around 110 quid.

Good purchase so far :)

I've seen some nice FW sound cards while searching, but I don't have FW on my laptop and getting an additional FW adapter seems to be a bit risky. It just gives an additional component in the audio chain that could fail or cause problems in a bad time..
