i'm working on synthesizing my own trance drum kit in ableton with the help of some tutorials and DMM. So far i've made a nice meaty kick, a snare, and hi hats but i can't seem to figure out how to make a crash cymbal. anyone got ideas? |

I would be interested to know if anyone has some good tips as well. I love synthesizing my own drum kits.
(Or at least trying to, anyway...) :D
I think I'll try to make some cymbals today. |

What synth(s) are you using to do this? |

I got some really nice sounds using SuperCollider, but I can't figure out how the heck to export them.
Maybe I'll just try doing some stuff in FM7... |

Try Microtonic VST. It's the best IMO for synthesized percussion sounds. That's what this VST focuses on.

I'll be honest though, it's kinda hard to make a convincing crash sound. It'll definitely sound fake and digital, but maybe that's what you want though. |

I made one in Thor, just with some messing around with noise oscillators and a vocoder...I'll make a sample cut later :D |
