Im sure most of us have heard this "eletric" bassline , that sounds like a saw , but really electrifying..

Examples are

(starts at 0:30)

(Starts at around 0:22)

Bascially , i really want the bassline from the meltdown track , because i really think it sounds awesome!!

Does anyone have any clue to making these basslines?

Try a highpass filter.

I know , but what are the waveforms involved? I mean i tried using sawtooths in Gladiator with unison and all , but still cant get this sound..

Ick, wheres the bass? Not my cup'o'tea.

My first impression when hearing that is to use a synth with two separate filters, they aren't in serial sequence. The first filter is a lower octave oscillator(s), lowpass it. The second filter has upper octave oscillator(s). BANDPASS that one. Thats my impression from the ty youtube sound quality.

Well I actually tried that half an hour ago , I could get the effect but couldn't get the sound , apparantly i did something wrong or something is missing but i dont know what ..

I might upload a sample of the bass later , or tomorrow.

It's sounds like these that are vital to getting the energy of your track. Spend alot of time working on patch creation and different methods for creating these driving high bass / mid synth riffs.

For these sounds I would def use a saw patch but instead of a bandpass try a hi-pass and run an EQ after to remove the bass frequencies.

Maybe choose a synth with a hollow/thin character like synth1? 1 min with it last night easily got a nice background riff going:
