Mixing in Synths/DJ tools

For instance Eddie Halliwell in the below video is mixing in some sort of synth. How is that done so far as where do you get synths or DJ tools like that? Or am I going completely wrong here? If someone could explain the technique he's using and possibly how's he's doing it and what synth/DJ tool he's using to do so, I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Looks like he's just using a CDJ, appears to be in a loop.

No synths involved.

i think that Eddie Halliwell is mixin that stuff by using the Pionner CDj1000 options..
loop\scratch and the pionner efx on the mixer or the pioneer efx..

just like James Zabiela on this youtube video - Pioneer CDJ-1000 Mk.II Promo

it's just a cdj in a loop with the transform effect on the mixer and you can scratch it and change pitch with the pitch slider

PVD does mixing in of synths and dj tools through ableton and he probably passes it througha bunch of compressors and limiters to make it sound as decent as possible live
