...man what a disappointing movie .....
... as a self proclaimed hater of hollywood horror movies, the only 2 movies of the last decade that have come from hollywood are the grudge 1 and 2. so i was expecting good things from the 3rd.
the thing i liked most about the grudge movies, was the weird hair thing that would float around, then something would happen.... F-ed up, but worked... also the way a character would be making thweir way to somewhere then one of the ghosts face would appear in the most strangest/obscurest of places, but just noticable enough for you to notice it for you to know somethings about to go wrong rather soonish. i.e the elevator scene in the 2nd one, lady goes up in an elevator and with every passing floor you see the little kid drawing closer and closer to the elevator door.. now thats ing creepy, and indeed scary.. none of that sort of thing in this installment, apart from faces apearing in the most obvious of places.
the story kind of ties all up neatly, but there again its all a little weak. crap death scenes, not much in the way of visual brutality and just generally nothing much to get yourself in knots about, and above all not scary at all, where sam raimi when you need him?.. not directing this episode thats for sure, and it shows.
well i think im gonna watch the japanese versions of these movies now as i hav not done so thus far, but im pretty sure ill have a better viewing, theres just sumthing about the japanese , they seem to capture your senses far greater.
what do you lot think?.. anyone of you seen this yet and have been disappointed? |

The Hollywood remakes differ ever so slightly from their Japanese coutner parts. Usually they just borrow the name and a little bit of the story from the original and change everything else turning it into quite the fest.
I didn't even know there was a third, the second was bad enough I thought they just let it die. |

Wow, it's been a pretty slow decade for Hollywood, hasn't it? |

That's true, and, sadly, they're still some of the best stuff hollywood has put out recently. |

I would disagree, but this is all subjective anyways. |
