Hello,
many thanks to Mr. Mystery for At The Edge Of Tomorrow retrospective compilation. I have been searching Shattered Dreams tracks for many years before I found it here. Thanks a lot.
One famous progressive house/trance russian DJ has played this track from a vinyl in 2004. That version had a deep and boomy bassline and a smoother rythmline than the version available today. I think that the authors have remixed and remastered the Shattered Dreams since the first vinyl has been released on Expanse Recordings.
Today I wonder where it is possible to buy and download the original 2003 version of this track?
Thanks for any information! |

PM Mr. Mystery would be your best bet. If anyone would have it, it would be him. Luckily for you, he's on here pretty frequently so he'll probably happen upon this thread sooner or later. :) |

This was never out on vinyl - I'd very much like to know where this person got it from.
I think I have the original version lying around here somewhere but it's more or less the same with poorer percs & mastering. |

| Oh, maybe I thought that the release was out on the vinyl because this DJ was playing mainly vinyls those years. I knew that it was out by Expanse Recordings but did not know on what. Thanks for infomation! |

From what i remember, Shattered Dreams was originally meant to be released on Expanse Recordings, backed with George Hales vs. MK-S remix and Aspiration remix but never did due to the label going down before the release. So it has never "been out on Expanse" in any form whatsoever.
The mixes of Shattered Dreams have found their ways to DJs' playlists by other means, as free mp3s or handed out by the remixers themselves. |

That is true. The record got massive delays because Aspiration had a falling out and they split, which resulted in us being not allowed to use the remix. Then there was going to be a George Hales vs. MK-S Remix which also took ages to finish and by the time we got everything good & ready to go the whole label collapsed. So basically the original or any of the remixes were never released on any kind of media, despite being signed to Expanse at the time.
Now we have the rights back to ourselves and the track is freely being circulated online.
I'll have to dig for the original, though, I'm not sure I have it on this computer. |

| I am listening “Shattered Dreams” from that dj's mix again and again. It seems to be that "poorer" sound design sounds better for me :-) This version is really fantastic! |

I know that the topic is very old and many things are already forgotten, but... :)
Does anyone have the original version of "Shattered Dreams" in a good quality?
I mean not the current version (https://soundcloud.com/organik/al-azar-shattered-dreams) that has a clear percussion and more strict beat, but the first one, with smoother sound, firstly appeared in around 2003-2004. |

Man takes me back!
Used to love digging around the production forum when it was good and hearing stuff like this and sunquest, etc.
Seemed like there was so much life in the scene.
Great job on this Mystery, I'm actually inclined to think it's best it panned out this way. Your track has a tale behind it now. Rather than another text book release.
Haak, Mystery, Icone, MKS, Sunquest, etc. etc.
We had some talent here once! |
