Andy Blueman - Sea Tides EP

So i was listening to Everlasting (Emotional Mix) in one of ASOT , (I guess) And found out it was from Sea tides EP , and i went ahead and bought it straight away.
And man , it was amazing , every song in that album was extremely uplifting , and had really rich classical melodies..

This seriously sounds like Vangelis' 90s works like Conquest of Paradise, Voices or Oceanic going super-saw-epic-trance. From modern epic trance i only like Daniel Kandi but this guy could be another favorite. Too bad that these melodic instrumentals with the nice themes and soundtrackish leads, can sometimes fall between the full-on-pop-cheese and mcprog without getting the recognition they deserve. The use of the same super-saw lead (by every trance producer) doesn't help either (to make a track distinct). Those trance producers should start making those melodic leads with different sounds other than the damn super-saw. Something must be done with the fast rhythm and the intro and outro parts as well. They are extremely monotonous, similar sounding and boring. Producers should start to play with the structure a little more. But these criticisms go to every new epic/melodic trance track made, not just to this guy.
Despite that, i liked "neverland" very soundtrackish melody, plus the ethnic samples and the violin give the track a warm organic feel. The other two tracks are also good with similar nice full-on cinematic melodies. IMO though, these tracks are very dancefloor unfriendly. I mean i can't see (or hear) how this structure can move your body in a sweaty dancefloor. These tracks are closer to new-age and scores than EDM. I guess that young teenagers can go mental at those fast rhythms in a club (or stadium...) who knows... Nevertheless i enjoyed it as a home-listening type of thing heh. |

Yeah , i guess most of us know how overused the supersaw is , but you gonna admit , its one of the most uplifting sound other then the "superSquare" or sine/triangle waves..

Yeah its rather dancefloor unfriendly , i personally feel that the breakdown isn't "energtic" enough. |
