One of my favourite passtimes back when I was traveling was to get people to try and imitate an Australian accent. So ing funny :stongue:

Yeah, I suppose it's all relative. We don't sound like that to OURSELVES, but other people hear differently. I also think people have spent too much time watching Steve Irwin and Paul Hogan and don't realise that "normal" Australians don't sound anything like that.

It's a very hard stereotype to overcome :( Thanks a bunch, Steve!

That said, I can do an awesome Scottish accent, and once lasted an hour in a pub (on a dare) chatting with an American accent, to an American, before my friends cut in and told him I was an Australian that was just ing with him :haha:

Most of my international friends still think that Aussies sound like though :(
