My trip to London....

Ok,this is just something that's been killing me over the last couple of days.I spent the last 6 days up to tuesday this week in London with my english class.Which was great during daytime,I shopped a lot of new records, clothes and comic books that I'd never get my hands on elsewhere("Earth Moving The Sun" by MWNN on vinyl for 1 ing pound!!!!:eyes: )and also got to know one of the nicest girls I've ever met.(spent three hours with her in a restaurant talking about all kinds of things :)) Good looking too.She also very into music, too bad it's metal and not electronic music. Also she's got a BF:(Oh well...)
But that was during the day.At night I didn't have to do,as almost everybody got blind drunk and went to the first club they could find,no matter how dodgy the club or crap the music there was.(which is not my style at all).I wanted to go to some of the really good clubs there, and see some of music's greatest artists. And what choices I had!Just look at this:
Armin van Buuren,Mario Piu,Corvin Dalek,Danny Rampling,Lottie & Joey Negro @ The Gallery,Turnmills
Slammin' Vinyl Rave @ Brixton Academy with Grooverider,Hype,Shy FX,JJ Frost,Ray Keith,Bad Company +++
Sven Väth & Mr.C @ Fabric
New Order,Air,Super Furry Animals & Echo And The Bunnymen @ Finsbury Park
But how many of these did I get to see?NONE.And responsible for this is the one-sided lameness of taste in music that my classmates had(all rockers),and a rule that we had that said: "Always go in groups of three when in London at night."AARGH!!!!:mad:It was the most depressing thing EVER to sit in my hotel room alone at night, staring out the window and thinking about all the people who probably were dancing their feet off right now to the sounds of AvB and Sven Väth.This probably ruined the whole damn trip for me,as I was thinking more of this when I got home than on the good times I had in London. If it hadn't been for my discman and the World Cup,the whole trip would've been a complete disaster.
So my advice:F*ck the rules that bind you and the people around you,and use whatever opportunity that you have to experience all the musical events you can.Otherwise you'll end up like I did this time. |

that sucks. i would say go out by yourself, but i see your situation didn't allow that. but you shouldn't mope. next time, go out with your friends. even though it is crappy music at least you can go out and have a good time.
or plan ahead and convert them to your music before you go. ;) |

I am feeling you for sure. This has happened to me numerous times. For example, i was in Munich with some friends, and PAUL VAN DYK was spinning, but my friends refused to hear a bunch of techno, and I was the only one who could speak proper german, so didn't want to leave the two by themselves.
I also agree that you should forget the rules! Don't let the 21+ rule ever get you in the states, it's incredibly easy to get past bouncers. All I have to do is do my russian accent and show my dodgy passport copy, and i get in. Only wish my friends were so easy to drag into a club.
But at least you got to see London town, and england advanced! Couldn't have been to dreary.
cheers
keep yo head up

Last summer I went to the Roskilde festival in Denmark. Mostly because Tiesto was playing. And the day when I finally was going to see him spin I fell asleep!! And my friends didnt even bother to wake me up!!! Man I was pissed. Still am. :whip: |

You're absolutely right. The trip itself was really great, and I got a lot of new impulses and experiences there. But I just can't stop thinking about those incredible opportunities I missed right now,and it overshadows the good times I had over there right now.But I refuse to go through this summer without attending a major event somewhere. That would be too disappointoing. So let's see...Dance Valley's sold out,GCSS is too close,I'm working when GKGG is held, that goes for Impulz as well. That leaves...Mysteryland!Maybe I'll head to Amsterdam and go to Mysteryland with my cousin, she loves clubbing.Yeah, that sounds great!
Anyways,thanks for the support,guys.It really helps.:) |

Ehh, dont worry about it....
But, if I was in that situation, I would have gone out, called a taxi, and would ask to be taken to the club of my choice. I'd then find some females that would be interested in having a night on the town. Then again, London is 4000 miles away. Staying in would not be an option. |
