How To Kill The Music Industry

Just another memo about the age ol' question and the forever on-going issue. I recived this in an e-mail today

How To Kill The Music Industry
During The Pirate Bay trial, the music industry placed the blame for the decline in its revenues squarely on the shoulders of file-sharers. Its logic is clearly flawed, but it could sway the verdict if no alternative explanation is presented. So, if piracy isn't to blame, then what is actually killing the music industry?

Two-Thirds of Music Consumers Are Still CD-Only
I'm attending the Digital Music Forum East conference in New York today, and the first presentation I heard was called "Top Digital Music Trends," with analysts presenting usage data for the music industry. Some of the data shared by Russ Crupnick, VP and senior analyst at NPD, really stuck out to me.

Back up a sec and please define 'the music industry'. If defined as artists who create music, then it will never be killed. If defined by the major corporate record labels, then I couldn't give a shit about their failing business practices. Still, these are very simple descriptions. Does anyone have a more well-rounded idea of what constitutes 'the music industry'?

I just received this vague e-mail today but I can tell you where the articles came from...give me a sec. I didn't read them because I figured music industry meant major corporate record labels and I to like you don't care if they have failing business ventures but 2 sides to every coin...some major corporate record labels provide a lot of jobs and thus feeds families. Ok, let me find where the article originated from. I guess I should have read it all first but I was just eager to stir the pot.
