He also is said to have banished snakes from the island and used the shamrock as a symbol of the Holy Trinity in his teachings.

lol....i'm irish. I'm pretty sure my dad told me the story of St. Patrick when i was little. I THINK the story is, that he scared all the snakes out of ireland...or something like that....so they named a day after him and the irish celebrate it by getting drunk of course!
