meh, its more of a heritage thing, i suppose. through geneology, my mom was able to find out exactly when and who came over on the boat from ireland - was pretty neat to see

St Pats is just an excuse to drink, so it can't be that bad.
But like tubuarbills said. In America, modern life can get pretty boring and generic. We spend most of our time driving to jobs and working in cubicals. Many ppl seek out their heritage so they feel part of something special. My family hails for Cork but long ago so I don't have any relatives there.
