Sound driver intialization sound ?

I got a new laptop recently, and it does something which ive never experienced before.

Any program that uses the "MME/DirectX" option for sound output (the default device that most programs use), you get a kind of "TADA" sound, really cheesey and annoying.

For example, if you load up ableton, on the splash screen you get "TADA", if you load adobe audition, every time you press the play button, you will get "TADA" followed by what you want to play.

As you may imagine, it gets a little annoying after a little while. Whats most annoying is I dont even know where to start in an effort to disable this initialization sound. I can get arround it by using ASIO drivers, but this isnt really the point, I would like to know what is triggering this "TADA" sound, and how I may be able to disable it.

Thanks.

LOL, I believe it's getting annoying.
However, I don't think it's you driver. I think the problem lies in the Windows System Sounds, which are assignable to almost any action you do.

Well ive been through all the system sounds, and I cant find that god damn "TADA" sound anywhere.

The reason behind me thinking it is something to do with the initialization of the soundcard is because, if goto options in ableton to choose between MME or ASIO, then every time I select MME I get the "TADA" sound.

Thanks for the help.
