Had a bloody awesome weekend planned mainly around Ar: pia:r after canning there sets over the past two weeks but essentially it was:

Sat Night: Raresh @ Kink
Sun Day: Ar: pia:r on a boat, on Sydney Harbour for 5 hours
Afterparty: Rahdoo and Pedro + sci-9

which would have been bloody epic beyond epic proportions and then Friday afternoon around 5 we get this below

quote:
For immediate release
Ar: pia:r cancels worldwide tour
We are deeply disappointed to announce that ar: pia:r have cancelled the rest of their international tour, including all dates in Asia, Australia and USA, due to personal reasons. Unfortunately we have been informed that they have returned back to their homes, in Romania.

This is the first time ar: pia:r were due to travel to Australia and have cancelled shows internationally, as well as around the country.

This just really pisses me off because this isn't the first time it's happened in Australia. On NYE, Eric Prydz was scheduled to play at a one stage festival thing, the day before we find out that he wasn't playing ...... I bought tickets to two festivals in Sydney specifically to see Prydz, about $250 worth of tickets to mainly see him and then as a replacement we were given electro garbage in it's place.

I'm ranting for a reason here.... Firstly, no refund was given for the Eric Prydz debacle because apparently it's in a clause when we buy the tickets or some crap like that. Surely if we buy a ticket to an event/festival surely we should be able to get our money back. Secondly, they replace the guests with crap ... i.e. replacing 5hrs of arpiar with 2hrs of Jo Mills and Eric Prydz with some phail electro garbage local group from Sydney

End Rant!!!

Anyway, i just wanted to know whether this happens to everyone or it's just because we are in Australia so therefore they can treat us like crap? And were you offered refunds? Rescheduled the events etc

Felt that this deserved to be posted as people going to WMC will know why they're not rocking up

quote:
Anyone who has requested a refund prior to 10am this morning will get one ... sorry for all the confusion but as you can appreciate is all been a bit mad trying to figure out in broken circoloco italian and broken romanian as to whether they were still coming or not .. basically they cocked up there flights and brought over 100 kilos of records with them on tour .. they arranged to have the excess baggage taken care of to Tokyo but when they got to Tokyo Qantas tried to charge them 8000 euro for the rest of the world tour which was Australia and USA. They tried to change airlines and sat in the airport for 28 hours before deciding on there own accord to turn back. obviously this was far beyond our control would have rectified the situation had they told us what was wrong before heading back home ..

Full marks to the promoter for offering refunds unlike the festival earlier in the year but the whole situation is still pretty gay.

First off, who in the hell is Ar: pia:r?

Second, don't act like it's all because people hate Australia and that you're the only one who has ever been on. off with that attitude. :stongue: Hell, you said it yourself; they also canceled gigs that they had scheduled both State-side and in Asia, so they're not doing it because you're Australian.

Why would they treat you like crap? Prydz canceled because he has always had a very large fear of flying. It took him years to even make it to the States in the first place. He didn't sit there thinking, "Huh, ya know, I've heard some odd stories about Australia. 'em, I think I'll sit at home instead." No, if you actually understand what happened in that particular situation then you'll know that he tried repeatedly to board a plane yet could not completely follow through with it, just as Ar: pia:r refused to pay an extra 8,000 Euros.

Third, what the ? You said that you were pissed that you didn't get to see Prydz, yet now you DO get to see him when someone else cancels? You'd think you'd be excited for that...

Fourth, everybody everywhere has had gigs cancel on them. Alex Under had to cancel his performance here due to an illness a few years back. The Field canceled his entire US tour last year; I had planned to see him in both Los Angeles and here in Seattle and didn't get to see him at either location. However, I still went to both shows (complete with other artists) and had a blast. And lastly Underworld, my favorite group, had to "cancel" a part of their tour when I saw them. I bought tickets to see them in Denver because of the outdoor venue that they were going to be playing at; it's world-renowned and absolutely beautiful. Instead, just days before the show they announced that they would not be playing there but would be playing at a much smaller, indoor venue in the middle of the city. Certainly not why I chose to go see them but you know what? I still went and I still had a ing blast, coming away having seen one of the single greatest shows I've ever seen.

Grow up and quit whining. happens, and nobody's picking on you just because you're Australian and people think that that's a good enough reason to treat you like crap. Everybody has had artists cancel gigs before. Deal with it. Go see Prydz and have a good time. s sake.

Stop acting like a little bitch.

Plays at circoloco, ibiza, very much in the category of Luciano and Villabos except an up an commer i would say... not much into minimal but the way they have brought a wonderful housey feel to the genre... creates an awesome party atmosphere especially on the harbor!!

Yeh i'll give you that... was poor attitude but was more of a rant rather than anything else. I guess i was just pretty sad as i was really excited for an event that was not going ahead.... that made just real angry but now sad.

It was more a fact that everyone knew that he had a massive fear of flying and everyone was cut that they couldn't see him after like 6 months of hype when he was initially announced. Surely if he has a fear of flying but why try and do it one big trip, cut it up into a smaller trips with stop overs etc, just seems really poorly thought through....

Someone else was this.... Eric Prydz was replaced by Bag Raiders who left everyone standing still and the following day he was replaced by Calvin Harris. I can tell you now that both acts were rubbish and weren't worth the admission price, not even close

Okay there you go, an answer to my question, what i was looking for..... Cancelling because of illness is completely reasonable but were you still able to get your money back for both alex under and the field?

And did you get a refund on your ticket to Underworld Denver show or did it just give you entry to the intimate venue? I think it would have been better anyway, when underworld last play here most of the crowd were screaming for the presets (local aussie band) in the midst of cow girl, Beautiful Burnout, King of Snake, moaner etc where i only wished that i was seeing them in a smaller venue!!!

How about anyone from Europe?
kitphillips
Sydney's been screwed over pretty badly lately, Prydz, Falke and this have all come one on top of the other. At least in this case refunds are being offered and I'm sure pulse will do their best to make it up to people in every way they can.

Refunds were offered for those who chose not to attend. However, I would have been a fool had I not gone. I went.

man... really sorry to hear that.

LoL @ asking who Ar: pia:r is... They have pretty much destroyed every single dance floor they have played at... they crushed South America in so many ways lol... I had the chance to listen to them at a private party... 6 hours of carnivalesque house with that minimal feeling, vynils only... unreleased prints everywhere, just unbelievable the atmosphere created with the music.

I can understand that frustration... They definitely belong in my top 10 nowadays.

This same thing happened last year lol
