Ian Rush - gorwing up watching TSN Soccer Saturday in Canada, they often featured Liverpool matches and I became quite the Liverpool supporter

Zinedine Zidane - at his finest during his days with Real Madrid. Headbutt aside, always a classy player with phenomenal skill.

Del Piero - I normally can't stand Italian footballers or style of football, but this guy is fantastic. he's ancient by "modern" standards but he always finds a way to score and change the course of a match.

For keepers, you can't argue with the success of van der Saar. I enjoyed watching Fabian Barthez as an international, but he didn't do so well with Man U

For more modern players, Messi and Ronaldinho are simply amazing. Frank Ribery has amazing skill also.

Pele is the godfather. Maradona dominated the sport and captivated his people's hearts. Zidane made the sport beautiful.

And right now, there's not anyone remotely close to Messi's brilliance.
