It's a MIDI controller, probably for Traktor. He can use that to load up tracks, trigger effects etc without having to use his keyboard/mouse.

Oakie now brings a giant-ass equalizer with him, it was set up under the DJ booth.
That way he can properly hear the music as he wants, and no more problems :) |

...actually there was more girls there last nite than I can ever remember at Vanguard, besides maybe Valetines Day weekend with Roger Sanchez a while back. I was telling my friend, Vanguard is almost pulling hip hop club levels of girl to guy ratio, the pics really dont tell the story. Honestly there was a lot of girls, well at least compared to what Vanguard use to pull. I had fun, Oakenfold was actually pretty good, the crowd was all into it, and half the fun at a club is the atmosphere, so its good to go to these type of nights once in a while. That RHCP remix played early on by Oakenfold, who we were calling Jokenfold (conditioned by TA) on the way there, was nice. |

...he used to be smokenfold back in 90's. and that crowd looks fairly lively. |
