So I had made the decision to skip all the wonderful events Toronto had to offer this past weekend ( Radio Slave, Hernan Cananeteo, and Contact which scared me) all the take a bus down to Montreal. For those of you that have me on facebook I’m sure you were all well annoyed with the week long count down( sorry) but SANDER KLEINENBERG can bring that type of excitement out in a person. And let me say first HE ING DELIVERED, a small Venue with Sander Kleinenberg is WOW …. Also did I mention it was a DVDJ set? There were 12 large lcd screens on the wall behind him (Which had to be help up by broom sticks LOL )

So I got in literally right as Sander was just setting up and I had unfortunately missed 98% of Maher Daniels set but I was told it was great and the whole vibe was pretty good, and very ancy for the man to come on. ( or maybe was that just me ?) but Sander came on and me and mikey were right there …. 2 feet away all night able to talk with him and see everything. And there was no way in which we were moving from that spot oh no way in hell. He played one hell of a rocking set, it was completely different from what we heard from him at Guvernment 12th Anniversary … that also extends to his DVDJ portion it’s a whole new look from what you would expect.

The Set was very fun bouncy, and maintained the same groovy feeling all night long, and completely rocking us away with a very well programmed set. One thing I loved about tribe was the fact that there is a sound tech ( and lighting I guess) that sits right beside the DJ, which results in a lot better sound quality, as it was left all night long, and my ears weren’t ringing at all ….. There was appoint in the night where we wanted to get something autographed and we didn’t have any flyers considering we had just gotten off the bus , so mikey pulls out a water bottle and I a five dollar bill, and signs it WATER & MONEY, then returned to sign his name on it, Genius!

The crowd inside was very nice as well everyone was really friendly not overly pushy … Very nice to meet you stereohead and Alexx G … there were two things about the crowd however.

1 Why was everyone so short (is this a Montréal thing every night I went out I felt like I should be saying Fee Fi Fo Fum)

2 at a point in the night around 2 am I turned around and it was EMPTY ! the club had more or less cleared out, I was told security started forcing people to leave which seems odd if the headliner was still on ….

I personally have only been to tribe one other time before this on its opening night, but as a venue I did really like it. It was pretty generous in space but still small, its really quite bright and doesn’t have the darkness I have become use to in Toronto. But the layout is well suited for this type of event.

A few tracks he played that night:

SANDER KLEINENBERG – THIS IS OUR NIGHT
Gui Boratto – No Turning Back
Music Matters – Faithless ( Mark Knight Remix)
SANDER KLEINENBERG - MY LEXICON
Calvin Harris - I'm not alone
Ladyhawke - Paris Is Burning
Simon and Shaker - Star Stuff
I will add more as I remember them

Does anyone have a track listing of the first few tracks Menno played? There was this one track, with a robotic sounding female vocal - not many lyrics, just something like "beleive" as the main word. Man I was digging it. I've heard it before, but I just can't place it for the life of me - maybe 3rd or 4th song he played.

DJ Eremit - Tanz Der Seele (YOMC Club Mix) :)

p.s that's from Menno...still have to write my review super busy at the moment BUT OVERALL AN EXCELLENT NIGHT!!!!!!!!:D

You must have been laughing when you were entering the club with Armin and the drunk guy in line was shouting "OH MY GOD, IT'S FERRY CORSTEN!!!" at the top of his lungs. A hilarious start to the night for me.
