Well sweeps (or swooshes as you call them), are pretty easily made in any type of synth which has white noise. Simply automate a lowpass filter to have yourself a nice ol' sweep. Ofcourse, this alone is pretty boring but can do the trick. You can do a lot of things from the basic thing just told, put it through a sidechain compressor, add a bit of delay and reverb, automate the LFO and you got yourself a crazy sweep my man!! |

If you're looking to spend money, Vengeance FX 1 and 2 have many, many swooshes/ transition sounds. |

FX are probaly the hardest sound to make , thus you really need to spend time tweaking them.
For swoishs and sweeps , i would say get a noise osc , experiment with
white/pink/brown noise , and filters , eq and everything. You can try samples too , but hey its more fun creating your own FX ;) |

What is this comb filtering, I have read about it but don't really know what is does! |

Basically its that flanging sound , it works like a normal filter , with cutoff , reso and stuff but its function is different. It sounds kinda like a noise osc under a flanger.
The comb filter produces the same effect similar to the flanger , so if dont want to use a flanger , you can try a comb filter ;) |

It does the trick ;), that 'pitch' rise, is that a LFO or is that the comb filter? |

Its the comb filter , so basically you can turn that cutoff knob around like a normal filter and not be restricted by a LFO. And yep its that 'pitch' rise ;)
And you might be able to use it on snare rolls also , like that snare roll in Flutlicht - Icarus. |
