I like some hardcore (mainly the early stuff that was coming out on Industrial Strength, PCP and Rising High), and although I hate when people say that all hardcore is , I must say it's one of the least creative genres out there with the highest % of released.

I also like some breakcore (Venetian Snares has a new album out!!!), but the situation with it is highly similar to that of other "core" genres with just a slightly smaller % of released.

Basically most of that music (you can add schranz in there as well) is made for freaks who want "harder, faster, stronger", and I (and many other people) think that music which is designed with just that in mind is not exactly intriguing, exciting, beautiful, subtle, entrancing, creative, innovative... (or whatever the hell people search in music) and worth of their time. Electronic music can offer so much more...

I haven't been keeping tabs on the new stuff as much as I should. I get discouraged too easily with all the hideous newstyle-ish stuff that gets churned out these days. Always up for lending an ear to new stuff from people like The Outside Agency, Producer, Ophidian or Manu Le Malin though.

Rossz Csillag Allat Szuletett by Venetian Snares is the only thing along those lines i appreciate. But then again that album is more drum & bass or breaks. Other then that i don't like those genres.

I quite enjoyed some of the old mix tapes my older brothers used to bring back from the rezerection events. also got loads of old hardcore records about the house, loads of stuff on ruffneck alliance for example which i got quite into as a young whipper snapper. Listening to the records now I have a bit of a wtf expression..

Good at the time but.

Wow, you managed to deduce that this was elFreak, something everyone knows but didn't bother mentioning because it was so obvious. Good for you.

Regarding hardcore, gabber etcetera, I think they're stupid. They seem to be very "dumb" with no real subtlety or musical value. It's funny though, most people who don't understand electronic music seem to think the same about 130BPM house or techno, so it may just be that I don't "get" gabber and hardcore.

Yeah, where exactly have you spotted d&b or breaks on Rossz Csillag Alatt Született? The only track that could sound like d&b or breaks to an untrained ear is Öngyilkos Vasárnap because it features some weird and undefined rhythm pattern, but everything else is breakcore of the highest kind mixed with some classical instruments. Rossz is together with My Downfall the most distinctive VSnares record and probably my favourite one as well.
