Move to a third world country where you don't have the option to do things half-arsed. Somewhere where you either put in an effort or die of malnutrition. Guaranteed to cure you of depression too.. you just won't have the time for it.

Lol, I honestly think people should be made to do this kind of thing.

When I was 19/20 I was amazed at just how motivated I became when I was overseas, dead broke, and all but homeless. Ultimately, I learned how to rely on myself in a pinch, and any obstacles since then have been minor in comparison.

BTG: A serious post for you. Get yourself out of your comfort zone, and do something INTERESTING (and challenging, if you can be bothered) that will wake you up. Never having to worry about anything, and living the same over and over, will make you complacent, and as a result, you get bored with everything.

If not... then:

Seriously, no desire to really do anything, a lack of caring etc. etc. are all indications that you may be suffering from depression. You really should talk to a doctor. You may be clinically depressed and need some help.

If it's the weed... lay off of it.

Laziness isn't the same as depression. I see where you're coming from there, but I think depression and related disorders are horribly over-diagnosed and medicated. You can't jump to conclusions just because of one post he's made; even in people "with" depression, doctors can have a hard time diagnosing it after several one on one sessions.

Wha...?

Middle class people don't have time to be depressed, they're too busy doing things. I think it's more so upper class, because they don't have as much challenge in their day to day lives, and lower class, because they can have more self-esteem/life fulfillment issues doing menial jobs all day and looking at how "happy" and comfortable the people wealthier than them are. Stupid sweeping statements there, but there you have it.

BTG, I feel sorry for you. Like other people said, jump into life. Don't sit at home playing nintendo...be impulsive. A few weeks ago I was bored and so I gathered together a few blokes and we went indoor rock-climbing at a place in the city. I try to do stuff like this every few weeks to keep from getting bored. Perhaps, try learning a language or something, it's very stimulating. If you have the cash, start planning a holiday in minute detail. Join a sporting team. Exercise on your own or with a friend. Cook something complicated. Go for a drive to a random town and look around. Go paintballing. Do Go-Karting or laser tag. Just get out of the house in general. :)

well, i meant compared to people that starve or live in a house under water. those people are the ones that have too many concerns to be depressed.

Depression comes in many forms, much more so than the traditional ones people think of.

Also, for the person that said depression doesnt affect middle class people, thats BS. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. It doesnt matter if you are rich or poor, black or white, whatever, its a medical condition.
