Has he been moving away from house and more toward techno? That's the impression I got from this mix, but I suppose it could have been just this mix.

too many efx, really annoying imo.

His sets sure have changed during the past few years. Back then I found huge bangers thanks to them, not anymore though :(

Now it's just.. well, not bad, but not great either. Meh.

I do appreciate him from a technical point of view, he's almost unmatched. Almost.

how the do you dance to this ?

I saw him playing live here in Italy, he was damn crazy by using those CDJs 1000 players! But... I still prefer people with crazy technique on Turntables and vinyls..

why?

does it sound different, or is it just better because you are one of the creepy dudes that stands near the booth all night and watches the dj with a rape face on?
DuBam
smellyblack change your location, pretty please.

i prefer the other talented young james; holden.

had a little listen at 'at the controls'. was very promising.

also his DUB of depeche mode - darkest star is amazing. his REMIX is something different altoghter. great package.
smellyblack
this thread is about mixing skills though, something mr holden does not really do that well.

you are talking about a studio comp here.;)
rubez
beg yer pardon mate.

i used to have a pioneer 909. great mixer. i read (i think) ages ago zabiela used this mixer.

got an Xone92 now. miss all the effects, but the A&H is better for eq'ing.
smellyblack
i see how do you feel about mudkips since it is relevant to the subject?

rubez
google says its a cartoon.

a pioneer 909 has more to do with a james zabiela mixing topic than some retarded kids program. since he almost adopted it as his tool of choice back then.

For the record, James Holden does have mad production skills. I've enjoyed his live sets too, if only for the reason that he always pulls out such unique tracks. His remix of Madonna's Get Together? :eyespop:
