| So basically use all the presets and samples from logic studio, however my friend and I like to around and make beats at his house. He has a Korg M3, a Dave Smith prophet 08, and a roland 909. I like to use the kicks in his 909, but he doesnt like any of the 909 kicks. Am i insane? He keeps wanting to get more and more equipment in order to get fat, punchy kicks....but just as a sample. Is there any equipment that you can get with kick samples where you do not need to mess w/ them(i.e. compress, adjust wave, limit, adlimit,etc)? |

| Tell him to learn how to be a musician. Making a kick is basic grade school stuff. |

tell him to layer an 808 with a 909 then he will get a fat kick.
All dance music back in the 90's only used these kicks..
You also know how to Eq the kick so it sits properly, don't just through to kicks together thinking thats it i've created a fat kick. It's all to do with Eq and compression.
And knowing what kicks fit together and what not to use.....

Yea i get that, this kid doesnt and its making me feel like im taking crazy pills. Now he wants more equipment to try and get stuff and he barely know's how to use the other stuff yet. Its quite hilarious. |

Maybe he should get a whole real drum kit then!! Then he can make the kicks with his FOOT the way he wants. |

| You can always add effects/eqs on top of the kick to get a better punch. |

What you do is encourage him, then you go over and use his . |
