So, a "friend" of mine decided that just because they got registration in order they would drive around and take care of some errands despite having an expired license (and despite my pleas to not around).
Well murphy's law came in to play and 30 minutes into driving this person got pulled over and got a ticket for seat belt not properly fastened and driving with an expired license.
Can anyone give some feedback on estimated fines and/or proof of correction we now have to deal with.
Any help is appreciated...... :(
PS. What a waste of money that was completely preventable - and I hate ing pigs. Kthx.

What city? Maybe someone can provide specific help.
My experience from sitting in traffic court a couple of times was that so many people with expired registrations, no insurance etc. showed up in court, showed the judge a renewed registration, insurance or whatever, that some even got the day before the court, and the judge let them get away only with some $10 administrative fee. But it depends on the judge and the city, that's why the question at the beginning. |

It's in Sacramento. I've heard of the same thing for the expired license, that if she shows up with a current license the judge may only have her pay a $10-$25 filing fee.
As for the seat belt violation, I've heard anywhere from $100 to $600 :conf: |

Apparently they're giving out tickets wherever possible due to the shortfall in California's budget.....
DMV didn't send my vehicle registration reminder (how convenient) but I realized one day after it expired. They wouldn't let it slide even though I could prove I had been away (out of state) for two weeks and was trying to rectify it as fast as I could (straight from the airport).
Be careful peeps they're everywhere... |

I'll tell you this much don't dodge the fines or court bc it really ed me over....
Suspended Liscense
dodging court
(and i got these from "supposed reckless driving")
then got pulled over again with my suspended liscense
all that totaled up to $900 bucks and 2 years informal probation. And the judge was nice enough to knock of $200 because he liked the shirt i was wearing... |
