No clue where they originate from though. In Poland we have different types, and 1 is called "Russian style Perogies." Those are with ground beef, but I doubt they're actually Russian. They just probably call it that in Poland to make it sound more fancy (Just like Greek-styled fish isn't actually from Greece).


the white cheese (cottage cheese) ones are russian.

not the beef ones.

I believe this food moved across from Asia with Khan and the Tatars and was thus adoped by slavic peoples.

Pretty much all nations along the Mongol expansion route have some sort of "pierogis" type of food.

We don't find this food much West of the (Western) slavic countries as that was very much the extent of Tartar (vis a vi Mongol) expansion into Europe.
